INSIDE: How to make DIY wild animal ear headbands using felt and embroidery thread. Easy sew craft project for kids for dress-up or zoo.
Anyone who knows me well knows I love myself a theme! I’m not huge on dressing up (my poor mother and the fits I threw as a child come Halloween) but give me a category to work with and I’m all over it.
So when we had an opportunity to take our trio of monkeys to the San Diego Safari Park this summer, do you think I could just send these super excited children to an animal park without some crafty creation? I think you know the answer to that one!
Learn how we got into the safari spirit with DIY animal ear headband (also good for Halloween, hint hint) which can be done in cheetah-like speed!

How to Make DIY Kids Animal Ear Headbands
This is a super easy project that came together very quickly. So don’t fret if you have to put together some last minute costume for the kids!
Download the FREE ear graphics. Feel free to use these for personal use only!
Step #1:
Fold the felt sheet in half, placing the dotted line (from the ear graphics above) on the fold. Cut out two sets of ears.
Step #2:
Wrap each individual ear around the top of the headband (or on the side of the headband if making elephant ears). Hold in place with a straight pin.
If desired, sew the ears together with embroidery thread. Or, glue with a hot glue gun.
Step #3:
With the ears sewn onto the headbands, add a few “wild” touches like faux fur to the tiger ears, or a felt bow to the cheetah ears.
Whether you are headed to the zoo, or just getting into the Halloween spirit, craft up some wildly easy DIY animal ear headbands.
For the kids or you. (It’s okay to admit you want one for yourself!)
