There’s nothing worse than being sick! I can handle a sniffling and sneezing preschooler. I can handle myself feeling run down and just wanting to crawl back under the covers. But a sick husband takes the cake! There’s nothing harder than a grown man lounging around all sad and miserable because he has a cold.
So when that special person comes down with a case of the chills, nurse them back to health with a DIY get well soon gift basket complete with a DIY “get better” chicken soup bowl. And get that 40-something year old husband off the couch even faster!

How to Make a Painted Chicken Soup Bowl
There’s nothing quite like a bowl of hot Campbell’s® soup when you’re feeling crummy. It warms you up when you need it most without any artificial colors/flavors. And putting soup in a fun get better bowl may bring a small (sad) smile to that under-the-weather person today!
Sketch out a simple design onto a white porcelain soup bowl. I used a pencil to do this.
Use craft acrylic paints (or Sharpie markers) to bring that sketch to life.
Look at this cute bandage! Who wouldn’t get better for this guy?!
Let the bowl dry. Place the bowl into a cold oven and preheat it to 300°. Let it “bake” for 30 minutes. This will help seal in the paint and protect your design.

This is a really sweet and new idea. Such a generous practical gift that is sure to lift anyone’s spirits. Love your idea.
Cute idea! And glad to hear my husband’s not the only one who acts that way when he gets the sniffles!
What a great idea! I have never done a basket before but I have delivered a quart jar of homemade chicken soup to sick friends; it has always been appreciated. I agree that a sick man is worse than a recovering impatient toddler! Recently there was a thing on the news that our estrogen helps us process pain differently so men really are in more pain than we are! But I admit, I prefer to get a guy what he needs, then disappear so as not to be there for every beck and call!
Victoria this is the perfect care package for that loved one that is not feeling well. Love the cute bowl.
That’s a great project and perfect! I’d love for you to come share at Let’s Party https://themarkandjanshow.com/2018/01/31/lets-party-6/ … we look forward to seeing you there!
I thought this was a vinyl project at first but I’m glad you’ve demonstrated how to paint the bowl instead. I’m “sharing” a vinyl cutter with my daughter which means I won’t have the opportunity to use it until I return to the US. This would be a great solution for me. I could have used some chicken soup and a little pampering these past two weeks! Thanks for sharing with us at Creatively Crafty #ccbg 🙂
How cute! I think we all could use a gift like this when we’re under the weather! Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm. xo Kathleen|Our Hopeful Home
