There is a reason why bath bombs have become extremely popular recently, and we are not surprised. When you try a bath bomb, you can tell the difference it makes in your bathing experience.
Even though these bath bombs are a game-changer for your bath, they don’t need to make your normal bathing routine expensive. We all know how easy it is to spend too much on hygiene and beauty products as it is! Instead, use the recipe and instructions below to make your own bath bombs for simply the cost of loose change and a few staples in your pantry.
Easy Bath Bomb Recipe Materials Needed:
- 1 cup baking soda
- ½ cup citric acid
- 1/2 cup epsom salts
- ¾ cup cornstarch
- 2 TBSP coconut oil (or oil of choice)
- 1 TSP water
- 30-40 drops of essential oil
- 2 bowls
Steps to Make Homemade Bath Bombs:
Step 1: Take your favorite essential oils and the oil of your choice, then whisk them together. Enjoy the scents that will fill your workspace during this first step.
Step 2: Completely mix in the baking soda to the oils.
Step 3: In a separate bowl, mix the remaining dry ingredients. Once your dry ingredients are all mixed up, slowly add them to the baking soda and oil mixture. This needs to be done about a teaspoon at a time. Adding too much of the wet ingredients will create a bubble over your bath bomb and a loss of your materials. However, if you take your time whisking in the dry ingredients, the bath bomb mixture will become basically a damp powder overall.
Step 4: If you are coloring the bath bombs, now is your chance to get creative! Think about your favorite colors, the season, or upcoming holidays. Once you have chosen the color you would like, add a couple drops of food coloring to the mixture. Keep adding the food coloring until you have reached the color you desire. If you want to include several colors, make sure to separate out some of the mixture before adding your colors.
Step 5: Spray or drizzle the water over the powdered mixture. The lighter the addition of the water the better. See step 3.
Step 6: Line the edges of the mold you are using with a tiny bit of your oil. The mold could be a muffin pan, an ice cream tray, or honestly any other type of mold. This is where you get to be even more creative with the shape of your bath bomb.
Step 7: Do some last minute mixing with your hands. It helps to wear gloves if you have sensitive skin. Then pick up portions of the bath bomb mixture and press it into a mold or muffin pan. If you are layering the colors of the bath bomb, place the different colors how you want the final product to look.
Step 8: Let the mixture sit for 24 hours or more. Pushing down on the mixture while it is drying will create a tighter, more dense bath bomb.
Step 9: After at least 24 hours, remove the bath bomb and store it in an air-tight container or plastic bag.
A luxurious bathing experience should not cost you any more than you are already spending on personal hygiene products. So why not try out a DIY bath bomb with items you probably already own?
On top of the unbeatable price, the customization of these bath bombs is a blast!
With a vast array of colors and scents that can be included, the possibilities are endless! Use them instantly to enhance your evening, or wrap them up and give them away as gifts. Even, change up the bath bombs to match the seasons and holidays.
You can feel confident that these bath bombs are made with love and only natural ingredients to brighten anyone’s day.
