INSIDE: Use a large vintage letter to make DIY vertical wall succulent planter. Easy flea market garden and home decor ideas.
All kids love to be woken up early on a Sunday morning, loaded into the car and taken across town to an outdoor vintage flea market, don’t they?! Because mine don’t, LOL!
Once a month, while the weather is kind to us Arizonans, we take bribe the kids with donuts while mom and dad tour the empty lot turned pop-up flea market. Fun for all involved!
And it was on one such early mornings that I found this awesome oversized vintage letter. For $2. And it became this cool monogram wall planter…

How to Make Fun Vintage Letter Succulent Planter
Vertical planters are a great way to dress up an otherwise dull, boring wall. Like this shower caddy turned wall planter.
Supplies:
– Large vintage sign letter (this is comparable to what I used)
– Chicken wire
– Floral foam blocks
– Faux succulents
how to make wall planter from large vintage letter
Hang the letter onto the wall. Since this was going into brick, use drill with masonry drill bits.
Insert floral foam blocks into letter.
Place chicken wire over the foam.
Insert many (lots and lots) assorted succulents. Start with the biggest ones, placed sporadically throughout letter. Place smaller succulents to fill in the gaps.

Super cool! What a great find that letter was, and it’s perfect for Spring with the succulents added. Love it, this is a great makeover!
Thanks so much Molly! I love how it looks at the front door.
So cute and fun for so many spots.
This is so fun and creative!!! I love this idea. Do you spray them in order to water them or is there another way? I have a black thumb, as you can tell ????
LOL, I used fake succulents so I didn’t have to worry about watering them.
I love this! You did a great job up with this cool piece!
Thanks Angela!
Love it!
Great find for $2! The succulent planter look so pretty on your house and that flea market sounds like a fun place!
So colorful and pretty! I can’t believe you scored that letter for $2!
What an amazing find! It was totally worth the donuts you had to buy the kids! I love how pretty it looks with the flowers. Great job!
Oh my gosh, I love, love, love this! I can’t believe you got that amazing letter for $2. Flea markets are the best! I just grabbed a bunch of succulents from the dollar spot at Target. Now I know what I can do with them. Thanks so much for sharing at Sweet Inspiration!

This is absolutely amazing! I never thought about getting faux succulents before, but since I tend to kill all living plants, I’m thinking I should get a few fake ones for spring projects too.
Thank you for sharing at The Really Crafty Link Party this week. Pinned!
This is so very fun and boy am I loving the green since I’m so sick of all the winter and cold 😉 Thanks for sharing.
Awesome with a capital A! xo Kathleen
That is ace! What a fabulous find too, it would have been rude not to buy it!
It’s weird isn’t it how kids don’t enjoy this kind of market. Here in the UK we have a lot of car boot sales which are a mix of people selling their junk for next to nothing out of their car boots (that the trunk in American!) and market stall holders. We used to bribe our kids to come with us with promises of hot dogs and ice creams!
This is amazingly beautiful! What a score on that giant H! Great tutorial.
I wish our flea markets had those things!! Your wall planter looks so so cool, love it. My daughters doesn’t like thrift shopping either… unless I promise I would buy something for them too.
I absolutely love this!! It turned out so great..and now I need to find a way to make my own letter on such a large scale!!
