DIY Holidays & Seasons
Seasonal decor is where thrifty DIY pays off most, because you swap it every few months. These projects run from Mother's Day to Christmas, and most of them use cans, paper, pinecones and leftover ribbon.
Make one new piece each season and keep it in a labeled box. In a few years you'll have a full set for every holiday, and every piece has a story.
Where to start: pick the next holiday on the calendar and work back a week or two, so the paint dries in time.

Good to know
- Store seasonal pieces flat or wrapped in tissue, in boxes labeled by season.
- Pinecones, branches and leaves from a walk are free decor.
- Paper projects last longer indoors or under a covered porch.
- Label each box with what's inside and which room it goes in.
